Organization Description: Guernica is a magazine of art and ideas that author Howard Zinn called "an extraordinary bouquet of stories, poems, social commentary, and art." In its short time online, it has grown from one of the web's best-kept secrets to one of its most acclaimed new magazines. Guernica features and interviews have been picked up, aggregated or reprinted in newspapers, websites and magazines around the world, including The New Yorker, Esquire, Courrier (France), Arts & Letters Daily, NPR, Liberal (Italy), El Mundo (Spain), and Salon.com. In 2009, Esquire named Guernica one of five "great online literary magazines." Also in 2009, the story "Waiting" by EC Osondu, originally published in Guernica won the Caine Prize for African Writing, aka the African Booker. Guernica has also been written about in the BBC, The Guardian, and The New York Times. http://www.guernicamag.com |
