| ORGANIZATION DETAILS |
Organization Description: IMAGES THEATRE COMPANY (ITC) was founded during the Summer, 2003 by director Lisa Lacy, with cast members from the California Musical Theater’s (CMT), Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr. Theater Project production of “Keeping the Dream Alive.” Collectively forming a new troupe, IMAGES’ first production "Freedom" was written by Lisa Lacy and Michael Guinn, with musical composition by Charles Cooper. Freedom was presented at the annual 2003 Juneteenth Festival in Sacramento. The following year (2004), for the CMT/MLK Project, Lisa directed and co-wrote the script while Charles musically directed and composed the music and lyrics for new original MLK production, “And the Dream Goes On.” Collaborating on this project provided further impetus for Lisa and Charles to continue with ITC, setting a goal to make it the first African-American Professional Company in Sacramento, CA. As a team, Lisa and Charles discovered that they had what was needed to develop original musicals that had mass audience appeal. In 2004, Wanel Thomas joined as the newest member of the ITC artistic team and began serving as the company’s choreographer. Since that time, ITC has produced grown to include some of the finest actors and vocalists in the Sacramento area. More recently, they have completed their 501 (3) (c) and have found a home at The Guild Theater in Sacramento. Like any new company, ITC is looking for sponsors. As we grow and give flight to ITC, we are convinced that the sky’s the limit and hope you will join us as we journey to the stars. |
